Depression: Leitliniengerechte digitale Therapie im klinischen Alltag

In 2019, Germany was one of the first countries in the world to create a legal framework for making digital therapies prescribable as digital health applications (DiGA) via the state healthcare system. This has also opened up a new care pathway for mental illnesses such as unipolar depression, which has also been incorporated into the recently revised National Health Care Guidelines (NVL) for unipolar depression. The presentation will provide an overview of the current recommendations for the use of DiGAs in depression therapy and their integration into everyday clinical practice.

Patient management for depression using digital health apps (DiGA)

Depression is one of the most common conditions encountered in general practice. Despite clear guidelines, the majority of those affected do not receive psychotherapeutic treatment – this so-called therapeutic gap affects over 80% of patients. Digital health applications (DiGA) can help bridge this gap in care by making guideline-based interventions accessible and supporting patient motivation in everyday life. The presentation will outline practical ways of integrating DiGA into everyday GP practice and strategies for structured patient management in cases of depression.
