Patient management for depression using digital health applications

Depression is one of the most common conditions encountered in general practice. Despite clear guidelines, the majority of those affected do not receive psychotherapeutic treatment – this so-called therapeutic gap affects over patients. Digital health applications can help bridge this gap in care by making guideline-based interventions accessible and supporting patient motivation in everyday life. The presentation will outline practical ways of integrating digital health applications into everyday GP practice and strategies for structured patient management in cases of depression.

Dr Elif Cindik-Herbrüggen, Specialist in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Master of Public Health (Harvard University), Chief Physician at the Riem Neuropsychiatric Centre (NPZR), Physician of the Year 2025 and supervisor for depth psychology-based psychotherapy.
